About us

We opened Yo! in Grantown-On-Spey at the end of October 2005. A totally new venture for us!

We are Roslyn, ex Osteopath, Mike and children, Sam and Kristin. We relocated to Mike's hometown of Grantown-On-Spey in August 2003, having always longed to do so, and just love it here.

We felt there was a need locally for a childrens footwear provider. Once we acquired the shop we realised that we would need a bit more to fill it, so we added some clothing and accessory lines. Sam and Kristin are good buying assistants, keeping us in touch with the tweeny trends. They also double as models when needed!

The name of the shop was a great family dinner table debate, but we eventually came up with Yo!. It means I or me in Spanish, as in, "Hey! Here I am!".

Part-time shop assistants, Lynn and Mandy are a great help. Lynn has 2 young boys so knows the likes and needs of our younger customers. Roslyn and Lynn are fully trained baby and childrens shoe fitters and are happy to measure and advise on foot problems or concerns. Mandy has a son same age as Sam and is currently training to fit shoes but is doing brilliantly and will get her certificate very soon!

Yo! is popular among the local kids, who like to pop in for a look at what's new. Mums are happy too as we have toys and things to keep the cherubs amused while they have a good browse. Some wee ones don't want to leave! Dads, husbands and grandads love the sofa to rest those weary shopped-out legs! We play popular music (and yes, we do have a music licence!) and have competitions to keep things lively. There is also the sweety basket and wee gifts for the well behaved customers!
